The filming of the trilogy finale took place mainly in the North of England, in the North East and the Yorkshire and Humber regions. The creators chose for filming as close to nature as possible and removed from civilization. They can be understood, because civilization is almost non-existent in the world of post-apocalypse.

Scene was shot at Fountains Abbey is the ruins of the largest English abbey in medieval England. The building has well preserved its original appearance, which helped the film crew to recreate the look of the cathedral. The structure certainly looks majestic and emphasizes the scale of the tragedy.
