The park deteriorated over the years until a renovation in the 1980s, when the entire park was rebuilt over the newly constructed underground library stacks.

Scene was shot The Apthorp is a Italian Renaissance Revival apartment building constructed in 1908 for William Waldorf Astor by the architectural firm Clinton & Russell. At the center of the building is a cobblestone courtyard and driveway. The building was sold in 2006 and converted to condominiums in 2008 which sold for around $3,000 per square foot.
