Where was Prometheus filmed

Prometheus

Year: 2012

Genre: Adventure, Mystery

Country: Iceland

Prometheus was filmed in Iceland, Scotland and Jordan, as well as in built sets at Shepperton and Pinewood studios in England, and at Spain's City of Light. The location shoots required a rocky and lifeless planet, so the northern landscapes of the glaciers and wastelands of Scotland were ideal, and the deserts of Jordan were used for background rather than full-fledged filming. Given the large number of sets and objects that were filmed in the movie it is understandable to use three studios at once.

    Real

Scene was shot in the Wadi Rum desert and the Scottish heathland of Rannoch Moor. The mountains in the background are the reason why this place was chosen, but unlike other films that were shot here the creators did not use the red tones of the local sand and mountains, but used color correction that changed the basic colors of the landscape. The mountains were cut with CGI and inserted into the background of the Scottish heathland.

  • Shepperton Studios

    In movie

Scene where major interior work including spacecraft and facility environments, where practical sets, props, and controlled lighting were used to create clean, engineered spaces that contrast with the harsh exterior landscapes.

    Real

Scene was shot a long-running film studio complex with multiple sound stages and production facilities used for large interior builds. Its controlled stages and backlot infrastructure support extensive set construction, lighting rigs, and effects workflows typical of high-budget science-fiction productions.
