The main interior scenes were shot in Yuzhny department stores, Leningrad's first self-service store, located at the intersection of Yaroslav Gashek and Kupchinskaya streets. For the scenes with the sausage department, the film crew moved to a meat-processing plant, as the stores didn't have enough products for the shoot, and it was there that they were treated to a product tasting. Some of the department store facades and interiors were filmed in the Moscow store at 16 Otradnaya Street. The post-wedding banquet scenes were filmed at the Pribaltiyskaya Hotel, adding a solemn atmosphere to the film.
