Locations

  • Angleterre Hotel

    In movie

Scene where snow-covered St. Petersburg is immersed in winter silence, only in the distance one can hear the clatter of carriage wheels on the frozen street. The wind carries snowflakes, the blizzard is getting stronger by the moment, and people, wrapped in coats and scarves, hurry to escape the cold.

    Real

Scene was shot at the Angleterre Hotel, located in the heart of St. Petersburg. The hotel has a special connection with Sergei Yesenin. This is where the poet stayed in late 1924, when he arrived in St. Petersburg after his imminent breakup with Isadora Duncan. Here Esenin experienced personal and creative difficulties, searching for inner peace and inspiration. Within these walls, in an atmosphere of luxury and seclusion, the poet spent time reflecting on life and death, which was also reflected in his later poems.

  • Petersburg Street

    In movie

Scene where Esenin rides in a carriage through St. Petersburg, which is shrouded in a snowstorm. Instantly, buildings, lanterns, houses disappear - St. Petersburg turns into a foggy, mysterious void. The poet sits shrinking from the cold, but confidently moving towards the intended goal.

    Real

Scene was shot on Malaya Morskaya Street in St. Petersburg. The street is relatively narrow, but rich in architectural monuments. It is home to classicist and late baroque buildings, many of which are richly decorated and have tall windows, preserving the atmosphere of the old city. It is steeped in the history and spirit of 18th-19th century St. Petersburg, making it an excellent location for filming, giving scenes an atmosphere of the past, calm and grandeur.
