Downton Abbey: A New Era was filmed during summer of 2021 with filming focusing on various locations in southern England including a Wedding scene in Sudbury, street scenes in Harwich and a party scene at an estate in Bedfordshire. The regular locations of Highclere Castle and Bampton, Oxfordshire also make a return. Filming also took place in Le Pradet in France for a key scene in the film.
