Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home

Year: 1995

Genre: Adventure, Drama, Romance

Country: Canada, USA

The family movie, directed by Dwight Little, continues the touching story begun in the first installment of 1993. Principal photography took place in the picturesque coastal areas of British Columbia, including Telegraph Bay and Vancouver Island. These mesmerizing locations provided the perfect backdrop for the spectacular ocean scenes. Additionally, the crew worked in various locations across North America including the San Juan Islands, Orcas Island, Fryday Harbor, Lopez Island (Washington State), Escondido (California), Astoria (Oregon) and Whidbey Island (Washington State). Some scenes were filmed in Los Angeles, at Warner Brothers Studios, where sets for the non-water scenes were created under controlled conditions. One of the most challenging tasks for the crew was working with real orcas and underwater scenes. For their realization they used animatronics and special studio pools, which allowed to achieve spectacular and realistic without compromising the safety of filming.
