Scene was shot at the abandoned Soho Hospital in Belville, New Jersey. In the early 20th century, the hospital was the Essex County Isolation Hospital, where infectious diseases were treated, and later it was converted into the Overbrook Psychiatric Hospital. Over time, new approaches to treating mental illnesses have eliminated the need for the hospital: large groups of patients have been moved from large inpatient facilities to outpatient care, and new medications and treatments have allowed many patients to manage their symptoms outside of the hospital. As a result, all Overbrook units were closed in 2011, and the hospital complex has been abandoned ever since. The abandoned look and historical overtones made Soho Hospital the perfect place to create the atmosphere of Arkham Asylum: a somber building with a history associated with psychological illness and suffering. The Art Deco architecture gives the building a special visual charm, and the condition adds a sense of hopelessness to the scenes.

The facade is decorated with a colonnade of ten Corinthian columns and an engraved quote attributed to George Washington: “The true administration of justice is the strongest pillar of good government”. On the roof are three statues symbolizing Law, Truth and Justice. The filmmakers chose this building because of its architectural expressiveness: its monumentality emphasizes the importance of the Joker's trial. In addition, the choice of this building is related to its real function, which gives an additional level of realism and authenticity to the events taking place on the screen.

He is eager to return home and reunite with Harley. He sees her on the stairs and rushes to her, but upon rising realizes that it is over between them. Harley Quinn becomes disillusioned with Arthur after his rejection of the Joker: now he looks pathetic and weak in her eyes. She abandons him and leaves him, leaving him alone, indicating that she was attracted to the madness and chaos that the Joker represented, not Arthur himself.

It is a flight of stairs connecting Shakespeare Avenue and Anderson Avenue on West 167th Street in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx. The place gained notoriety after the release of the movie “The Joker” in 2019 and has become a popular tourist spot. Many visitors try to recreate a dance scene from the movie, sometimes even dressing up in Joker costumes. The staircase has also inspired internet memes and appeared on a promotional poster for the movie. The staircase consists of 132 steps, so it is not an easy task to reproduce the Joker's dance on it.
