Locations

  • Gold mine

    In movie

Scene where Kesha, twenty-seven years old, returns to his native Yakut village after serving a prison sentence. When he returns, he is reunited with his father and younger brother Tima, a seventeen-year-old graduate who dreams of going to college. Kesha is eager to start a new life, and his father gets him a job at a gold mine. It is there, in the harsh conditions of gold mining, that a series of tragic events begins that will change the lives of the two brothers forever.

    Real

Scene was shot against the backdrop of harsh landscapes of Yakutia, where nature becomes one of the main characters. Much of the filming took place at a gold mining pit located in the inter-settlement territories of the Aldan municipal district. It is here, in the Aldan district of the Republic of Sakha, that the key events of the story unfold. The audience will see a large-scale dredge used for gold mining, which has become a symbol of hard work and the danger that awaits the heroes at every step. The harsh beauty of the open pit mine and the vast expanses of the Aldan district create a unique atmosphere, emphasizing the dramatic nature of what is happening.

  • Ocean shore

    In movie

Scene where Kesha and Tima, fleeing from pursuit, go on the run, not knowing where to go. Their desperate journey takes them farther north, closer to the ocean, hoping to find shelter from the dangers that pursue them. When they reach the coast, they find themselves surrounded by dry trees washed ashore. In this harsh place, the brothers realize that there is nowhere else to run and that their misadventures have come to an end.

    Real

Scene was shot in the Bulunsky district, in the village of Naiba. The director Maxim Arbugaev noted that the idea of filming not in Yakutia did not even arise, because the nature of Yakutia is unique in its beauty, harshness and energy, which is felt and conveyed in the movie. For the creators of the movie it was important to preserve the documentary nature of the locations, the terrain where the story took place, so the choice fell on Yakutia. The village of Naiba, located on the shore of the ocean, was ideal for the film's finale, emphasizing the remoteness and hopelessness of the situation in which the main characters found themselves.
