The series is based on a novel by a writer from Baltimore, who described fictional events that took place in her hometown. Therefore, the novel itself has a large number of references to local locations. The creators of the movie decided not to change anything and filmed in Baltimore, its suburbs and a large lake Loch Raven, which is located there.
