Scene was shot The grand building was constructed in 1928 as the headquarters of one of the most prestigious and expensive haberdasheries in Los Angeles -- Alexander & Oviatt. During the early phases of construction of the Italian Romanesque styled building, Oviatt attended the 1925 Paris Exposition and decided to decorate his building in the new style. When the building was completed, the sheltered lobby forecourt contained over 30 tons of glass by designer Rene Lalique. Many original pieces remain in the panels at the top of the lobby columns. Lalique also designed the mallechort elevator doors, mailboxes, and directories. Cicada's interior retains the elegant art deco fixtures, stair rails, and molded plaster ceiling panels.

Upon its grand opening in 1923, the Los Angeles Biltmore was the largest hotel west of Chicago. The Los Angeles Biltmore is known for being an early home to the Academy Awards ceremony--the Oscars. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was founded at a luncheon banquet in the Crystal Ballroom in May 1927.

Scene was shot The Kemper Campbell Ranch is a private estate and also a working cattle ranch. The Ranch was acquired in 1924 by Kemper and Litta Belle Campbell. The were both attorneys practicing law in Los Angeles. At the time it was called the North Verde Ranch. Architect John Byers was asked to design a new house. The main house dates back to 1929. In the old days the ranch hosted stars from the old Hollywood, like John Wayne, Groucho Marx and Greta Garbo. The owners decided to close the guest ranch business in 1976. In recent years, the ranch has opened its doors again as a vacation rental and event space.
