Various locations around the world were chosen for the filming of Solstice. Most scenes were shot in and around Budapest, which provided a picturesque and almost ethereal backdrop for the movie. Some of the opening scenes were filmed in Utah and New York. The beautiful and in places eerie locations of Hungary helped create the perfect setting to enhance the horror experienced throughout the movie. Set designers built farmhouse-like structures where Dani, Christian, and a group of their friends stay in an empty field. To make the sets in Hungary look authentically Swedish, director Astaire collaborated with Stockholm-based set designer Henrik Svensson.

Scene was shot in a rented apartment in Brooklyn. Fortunately, the movie crew didn't have to build extensive sets there, allowing them to shoot scenes in a few days and stay overnight. Compared to other filming locations in the production, this location was chosen because of its convenience. Brooklyn is a densely populated and vibrant neighborhood in New York City, where you can find many cute apartments for rent.
