Where was Misery filmed

Misery

Year: 1990

Genre: Drama, Thriller

Country: USA

Based on Stephen King's book of the same name, “Misery” is a horrifying and disturbing look at a deranged fan culture. Since most of the scenes in “Misery” take place in Annie Wilkes' house, a lot of the filming took place in the studio. However, for the outdoor scenes in the snow, the “Misery” crew traveled throughout Nevada and Northern California to really bring the atmosphere of the sleepy town to life. Throughout the film, we also see shots of New York City, where Paul Sheldon normally lives and works, and where his agent begins to realize that something is wrong.

Scene was shot “Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles, California. This is a very famous and historic studio that opened in 1919 and where shows such as “I Love Lucy” and “Beverly Hills” were filmed. The place is now called Sunset Las Palmas Studios and is still used as a movie studio. It is located just off of Santa Monica Boulevard. Even though it is illegal to enter the studio without a pass, you can sit in a coffee shop near the building and watch the stars come out of there.

  • Road

    In movie

Scene where During the investigation and thanks to some leads, Paul's car is found overturned on a snowy road leading out of town. Since there is no body there and nothing around for miles around, at first glance it appears that the driver must have frozen to death in the wilderness.

    Real

Scene was shot On a stretch of road called Donner Pass in Placer County, California. This pass passes through the Sierra Nevada and is relatively close to the famous Pacific Continental Trail. The best way to see this location is to drive the road, but as you saw in the movie, conditions can be unpredictable, so check the weather before you go.
