Hunting the LionThe main shooting took place in the abandoned since 2005 pioneer camp “Iskra”, which is located in the Tver region near the village of Dudenevo. For two months, the team of production designer Anna Kozlova restored the buildings and added the objects necessary for the script. The creators had a task to reflect the era so that the camp would be recognizable, that's why they carefully chose the locations. The shots with the water tower and wooden stage were filmed in the operating camp “Chaika”, which is located across the road from “Iskra”.
The motor ship “Virgil” can safely be called one of the characters of the movie. On it the guys arrive at the camp at the beginning of the first series, and several key events of the series are connected with it. In reality, the ship is called “Quick”, and its captain rents the motor ship and arranges river trips. During filming, the captain himself stood at the helm of his ship.

As in the series, the church is abandoned, and quite a long time since 1930. The interior decoration of the temple was suitable for filming perfectly, but for shots with perspective team used computer graphics. In the story, the church, as well as the camp, are on the banks of the river, which can not be said about the real structure. That's why the series makers filmed the church from a quadrocopter, digitized and placed in the right place using CGI
