Where was Practical Magic filmed

Practical Magic

Year: 1998

Genre: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Romance

Country: USA

In April 1998, the film crew began work in Washington, D.C., which lasted over a year. Most of the time was spent building the Owens' Victorian home. Although the action takes place in New England, the producers chose Whidbey Island and San Juan Island in Washington State. Whidbey Island was chosen because of its 19th-century atmosphere. Decades later, the coastal village of Coupeville, where filming also took place, continues to perpetuate the magical tradition and celebrate the anniversary of the witch film's release.

Scene where A family curse takes the life of Sally's husband. Heartbroken, she goes to the house where her aunts live and asks them to bring Michael back. Her aunts convince her that it is impossible to bring a man back from the other side of the world, it will be another man.

    Real

Scene was shot In the pavilion at the studio in Los Angeles. Given that the set of Practical Magic on San Juan Island was just an empty shell, the movie crew shot interior scenes in the studio. The creators used wood paneling for the staircase and foyer to give the house a Victorian look. Even the wallpaper was important to the story. The aunts, who loved nature, inspired the set designers to design the walls with birds and vines.

  • Street

She stands in front of them, shielding them from the crowd of bullies. One of the daughters holds out her finger and curses a boy for chicken pox.

    Real

Scene was shot Next door to the store that had a sign for Sally Verbena Botanicals. Now Little Red Hen Bakery has opened on the site of the store. Here you can find different kinds of fresh baked goods and just relax with your family.

Scene where The Owens sisters make a blood pact, saying "my blood, your blood, our blood". Jilly decides to go to Los Angeles and makes a blood promise that she and her sister will face old age together and they will leave this world on the same day.

    Real

Scene was shot The outside of an old Victorian-style mansion that was specially built for the movie set on San Juan Island, Washington. It took six months to improve the grounds and build the sets. The crew was not allowed to dig in the ground, so the residence was built on giant platforms.
