The film was shot in the United States, in Massachusetts. There were two islands and a local psychiatric hospital involved for the filming. Unfortunately, the lighthouse from the film was not real - it is a 1:12 scale model. The interior filming of the lighthouse was done in a studio using CGI technology.

For filming, a large number of scenery, military towers, gates, fences with barbed wire had to be built. There is a moment in the film where we see the gates of the camp: the mistake is that these are the gates of the Auschwitz concentration camp, liberated by Soviet troops on January 27, 1945 under the command of Marshal Konev.

The hospital included 58 buildings built in different styles - they have already begun to be slowly demolished, since 2013, three buildings already disappeared. Therefore, it is possible that in reality there are no buildings left and it will be no longer possible to visit them.
