Where was Sweet Home Alabama filmed

Sweet Home Alabama

Year: 2002

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Country: USA

The movie was filmed in the United States. Despite the movie's title, the main filming took place in the state of Georgia, not Alabama. They took place in cities such as Peachtree City and Fayetteville. There, scenes were filmed in Melanie's ancestral home and with Melanie's family, whom she visited with Andrew to announce their engagement, as well as various city scenes. Also, some of the scenes were filmed on historic Georgia plantations: these locations were used to create the atmosphere of the southern states.
Another notable filming location was Peachtree Lake, where Jake's plane landed. Scenes devoted to the current stage of the main character's life were filmed in New York City. They included scenes of Melanie's personal and professional life in New York: fashion shows, place of residence and neighborhood, expensive stores.
Thus, Shooting in New York and in Georgia helped to create a contrast between Melanie's present life and her southern past.
