Territoriya

Year: 2015

Genre: Adventure, Drama

Country: Russia

The film directed by Alexander Melnik is an adaptation of Oleg Kuvaev's novel of the same name and a remake of the 1978 film. The plot of the movie is based on real events and tells about a geological expedition that discovers gold deposits in the Far North-East of the USSR in the 50s. Gold in the picture serves as a metaphor for the ultimate goal, for which people are willing to do anything. The main shooting of the picture took place on the Putorana plateau, the largest mountain plateau in the Krasnoyarsk region, as well as in Provideniya Bay in Chukotka, where a whole village was built for geologists. The film crew worked in conditions deprived of cellular communication and internet, with the possibility of communication only through 3 satellite phones. The process of filming stretched for two years, covering different locations: the Putorana Plateau, Moscow, and Chukotka, where work continued until the end of 2012. Despite the difficulties, the living conditions for the crew were comfortable, with warm tents, kitchens, baths and modern toilets. AeroGeo Airlines provided transportation to these remote locations.
