<p>The classic 1999 horror movie “The Blair Witch” was mostly filmed in Maryland. Much of the movie takes place in Seneca Creek State Park and historic Burkittsville in Montgomery County. The park has a picturesque landscape with dense forests, mountains and streams. The park was also home to the 200-year-old Griggs House. A tour of these locations provides an opportunity to relive the intense scenes of the movie and experience the beauty of the Maryland countryside firsthand. Because of fan interest in visiting the area, the distributors of “The Blair Witch” tried to save Griggs' house from demolition after filming ended. However, it was razed to the ground in 2003 due to its poor condition. </p>

In the three years following the movie's release, the house attracted many fans who reported on its deteriorating condition and potential safety hazards.
