The Honeymooners

Year: 2005

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Country: USA

Film was filmed in New York City and tells the story of Ralph Kramden, a city bus driver played by Cedric the Entertainer, and his sharp-witted wife Alice, played by Gabrielle Union, who are constantly struggling to make ends meet. Ralph is full of get-rich-quick schemes and even has a motivational speaker tape series, but none of it seems to pan out the way he hopes. Together with their best friends Ed and Trixie Norton, they scrape together just enough money for a down payment on a Brooklyn duplex. But when Ralph tries to impress Alice by gambling their savings on yet another harebrained plan, he loses everything — including his marriage. The rest of the story follows his efforts to win back Alice and set things right. The film is a modern adaptation of the classic 1950s TV sitcom, relocated to contemporary Brooklyn with an entirely new cast and updated humor.
