Most of the filming of the series about the genius detective was held in Nizhny Novgorod and its environs. According to the plot, the action takes place in different cities of Russia, the historic streets of county towns bordered by modern high-rises and gangster barracks. According to Dmitry Bykov, the creator of the series, it was much more profitable and convenient to find one such city with a variety of architecture than to travel all over the country. That's why the creators chose Nizhny with its contrasting landscapes.
