Where was The Mother filmed
The Mother
Year: 2023
Country: Canada
Film was filmed across multiple locations spanning British Columbia (Canada), California (USA), and the Canary Islands (Spain) to create a globe-trotting action thriller about a former Special Forces FBI agent who comes out of hiding after 12 years to protect the daughter she gave up for adoption. Jennifer Lopez stars as the titular character who must confront dangerous enemies from her past, played by Joseph Fiennes and Gael García Bernal. The production cleverly used the town of Smithers and surrounding areas in British Columbia's Bulkley Valley to stand in for a fictional Alaskan community called Tlingit Bay, while Las Palmas de Gran Canaria doubled convincingly for Havana, Cuba. Studio work was completed at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood. The film features intense snowmobile chases filmed on Hudson Bay Mountain, a dramatic car chase shot on the streets of Las Palmas, and emotional scenes captured at historic landmarks including the 16th-century Cathedral of Santa Ana and the Gothic Revival Church of the Angels in Pasadena.
