Scene was shot Wilton House is an English country house at Wilton near Salisbury in Wiltshire. It has been the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke for over 400 years.
The first recorded building on the site of Wilton House was a priory founded by King Egbert circa 871. Through the munificence of King Alfred, the priory was granted lands and manors until it became wealthy and powerful. However, by the time Wilton Abbey was dissolved in the Dissolution of the Monasteries set in motion by King Henry VIII, its prosperity was already on the wane. Scene was shot at the Karkloof waterfall in South Africa, it is a rather high waterfall about 100 meters high, which dries up in dry times and turns into a very small stream. So judging by the abundance of water in the movie - it was filmed in spring after the rain.

Scene was shot Hatfield House was constructed in 1611 for Robert Cecil and has remained in the Cecil family ever since. The house was constructed from the bricks of the former Royal Palace of Hatfield which was mostly torn down to allow its construction. The house is an example of Jacobean architecture and is surrounded by extensive gardens.
