<p>Development of the third film in the Transformers franchise began in May 2007. Filming used both traditional 35mm movie cameras and specially designed cameras for shooting in 3D. The movie was shot in various locations including Chicago, Florida, Indiana, Milwaukee, Washington, D.C., as well as Tanzania and Cambodia. The movie was fully rendered in 3D to provide a full three-dimensional effect. The visual effects became much more complex compared to previous installments: new robot models required more time and resources for rendering.</p>
