The movie “Challenge” combined real and specially created locations so that viewers could immerse themselves in the atmosphere of space flight.
Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (Zvyozdny Gorodok). Here they filmed scenes of testing candidates for flight and training before the launch. The film crew had the opportunity to work in real training complexes, use real equipment and consult with experienced specialists. Sanatorium “Voronovo”. Here were recreated the interiors of the medical block and living quarters where cosmonauts undergo rehabilitation after returning to Earth. The choice of this place was determined not only by its cozy atmosphere, but also by its proximity to Star City, which greatly simplified the logistics of the filming process. Pavilion with a copy of the Mission Control Center. For filming the scenes taking place in the Mission Control Center, a detailed copy of this strategically important facility was built. This large-scale pavilion allowed director Klim Shipenko to fully control the filming process and create the tense atmosphere that reigns in the Mission Control Center during space missions.

The entire crew, which is about a hundred people, including the director, cameraman, editors, lighting technicians, actors, makeup artists, costumers and extras, came to the hospital several times on weekends for filming.
