Where was White Hunter Black Heart filmed
White Hunter Black Heart
Year: 1990
Country: United Kingdom, Zimbabwe

A 1990 American adventure drama film directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, who also played the title role. The screenplay is based on Peter Firtel's 1953 book of the same name, written from his personal experiences while preparing for the filming of The African Queen (1951). Filming took place in the summer of 1989 for two months on location in Zimbabwe, including Lake Kariba, Victoria Falls and the Hwange Game Reserve. Some scenes were also filmed in the Caribbean. The interiors were filmed at Pinewood Studios in the UK. The boat was built in England from fiberglass and shipped to Africa; it was electric, but had special effects to simulate a steam engine, which was done by John Evans. The hunting scenes used an authentic £65,000 double-barreled shotgun made by Holland & Holland, the same gun brand that made guns for John Huston when he was filming in Africa in 1951.

In movie
Scene where Pete Verrill receives an invitation from his friend, director John Wilson, to help rework the script for a new project, which so far has the working title "The African Trader". Wilson - a man sharp, independent and prone to rebellion - insists that the entire movie was shot on location in Africa, despite the high costs. As it soon becomes clear, his primary motivation has nothing to do with the movie itself: Wilson, an avid hunter, dreams of going on safari.

Scene was shot at West Wycombe House, an 18th century country manor house located in West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The mansion is an outstanding example of English Palladianism with elements of Neoclassicism, inspired by the architecture of antiquity and the Italian Renaissance.

Finally, Wilson gets his long-awaited chance to shoot the elephant, but when the time comes to pull the trigger, he suddenly realizes that he cannot do it.

Scene was shot on Lake Kariba, located on the Zambezi River, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Along its shores are tropical forests, and the waters are home to hippos, crocodiles and numerous species of fish.
