<p>Alexander Ilyin persuades the owner of gold mines Trifon Perfiliev to sponsor an expedition to search for the &ldquo;Sannikov Land&rdquo; - the legendary land beyond the Arctic Circle. Picturesque and unusual locations were chosen for the filming of the movie. The ice trek was filmed on the Gulf of Finland, and the landscapes of Sannikov&#39;s Land - in the Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka. Krestovsky&#39;s ascent to the bell tower took place on the Clock Tower in Vyborg, and the scenes of Ilyin&#39;s farewell to his bride and the expedition&#39;s departure were filmed in Monrepo Park, overlooking Bylinny and Ludvigstein islands. The episode with the sacrifice of deer was filmed on Lake Shadkhurey in Kabardino-Balkaria, and the rite of purification - in Chegemsky Gorge near waterfalls. In addition, several scenes were filmed in the Nikitskaya cleft in the Crimea.</p>
